Job description: Rough Sleeping Lead - Ilford
The London Borough of Redbridge are recruiting for a Rough Sleeping Lead to act as a lead officer in co-ordinating multi-agency efforts to support rough sleepers in the borough on an initial 3-month contract.

The Role
The focus of the role is to provide an effective, professional service which includes offering rough sleepers a full range of advice and interventions related to their housing options in the private and public sector with the aim of ensuring a comprehensive service to prevent homelessness, as well as ensuring that rough sleepers are provided with an effective, professional homelessness prevention service including the assessment and intervention required to provide prevention and relief duties in line with the Councils' statutory duties under Housing Act 1996 Part 7 and relevant case law.
This will include the following skills and responsibilities:
*To work with customers to develop, update and review Personalised Housing Plans for customers on behalf of the council in light of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
*To reduce the need for provision of temporary accommodation and resulting expenditure by ensuring effective options, prevention and relief activity
*To take responsibility for the recording of high quality, key data on homelessness for submission to the Department for Communities and Local Government ensuring key trends on homelessness, the causes and solutions are available for analysis locally and to the Government to measure the impact of homelessness nationally

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require at least one years' experience of providing housing related support and advice either on site or floating support, in a social housing or voluntary sector environment, to rough sleepers, as well as the following skills and experience:
*A good knowledge of all homelessness legislation as covered by the 1996 Housing Act Part VII and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and housing advice law.
*Detailed welfare benefit expertise and adult and children social care and health knowledge
*Detailed knowledge of welfare benefits, including social fund grants and payments, fuel rights, debt management and income maximisation
*Understanding of access to social housing locally
*Awareness of issues and initiatives facing local authority housing
*Good knowledge of relevant Lettings, Homelessness and Housing Act legislation including security of tenure and private tenants' rights

This is a full time role on an initial 3 month contract with a strong chance of being extended.
