Job description: Safe House and Family Support - Team Leader

Temporary to Permanent
Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Service hours Mon-Fri 8:30am - 5:30pm.
This role includes some evening and occasional weekend working on a rota basis.

This post will take a lead role within our clients Domestic Abuse services, supporting women and children experiencing or who have experienced domestic violence and abuse.

This post will hold responsibility for the safe house provision including the services delivered by the Family Support Workers

Collaborate with other managers to maximise the achievement of the teams and wider organisational objectives and standards, promoting effective communication and


1. Be responsible for the development and delivery of the generic safe house provision, taking direct responsibility for the leadership, operational and performance management of the services.

2. Manage and oversee the delivery of family support (in particular to children and young people aged 0 - 17) across Safe House and Community Services.

3. Be responsible for the management and development of the Safe House support team ensuring the delivery of high quality accommodation, support, advice and advocacy services to women and children fleeing domestic violence and abuse.


1. Alongside the Service Manager, provide leadership and performance management for the services and staff under your remit, manage the services according to service level agreements, ensuring staff work to high professional standards.

2. Oversee the provision of a co-ordinated package of on-going emotional and practical support to CYP who are suffering effects from the trauma of, or have experienced domestic abuse.

3. Ensure risk assessments (including DASH), safety plans and risk management plans are carried out to a high standard and are managed appropriately, including the referral of women to MARAC when appropriate.

4. Ensure the team maintains up to date, accurate, legible and accessible records of all work and contact with service users, other agencies/professionals and others, ensuring that they meet the requirements of data protection, confidentiality and meet the Advice Quality Standards.

5. Take a lead role in the planning and utilisation of staff resources.

6. Take line management responsibility for your allocated teams/staff, ensuring appropriate support, supervision and appraisals are provided to support work planning, caseload management and assess the performance of individuals and the team.


1. Experience of and ability to provide vision and leadership that directs the internal management and delivery of high quality services.

2. Ability to work in partnership, presenting with a high level of personal credibility with a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies, to achieve outcomes for service users.

3. Demonstrate the ability to lead, support and manage a team ensuring the delivery of high quality support.

4. Substantial management experience, including staff support and supervision, within the housing, domestic abuse, or similar support sector.
