Job description: SEN Inclusion Officer needed for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, £18 ltd per hour

Start Date- ASAP
Contract End date- 3 months initially
Hours per week - 37
Pay rate - £18 ltd an hour
Location - Bournemouth

Description
*To ensure that the local authority undertakes its statutory special educational needs functions in relation to statutory assessment and review in an efficient, effective, timely and supportive way
*Lead a team (with one or more Assistant SEN Inclusion Officers) in providing information, advice and support to parents and schools in respect of the statutory assessment and review processes carried out under the Education Act 1996 (as amended by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001), the SEN Code of Practice 2001, the Equality Act 2010, the Code of Practice for Schools and any subsequent editions, and current Bournemouth Local Authority policies.
*Act as a statementing officer for the local authority and provide guidance to other officers to perform that role
*Engage partners in schools and other agencies in coordinating arrangements for children with statements
*Preparing and presenting cases where necessary for SEN and Disability Tribunal hearings
*Under the direction of the Principal Special Educational Needs Officer, provide training, advice, guidance and monitoring for head teachers, Governors, SEN Coordinators and other school leaders, teachers and teaching assistants in relation to their statutory SEN functions, as appropriate
What is required?
*Degree level qualification
*B.Ed or PGCE or equivalent
*Experience of working with children and families
*Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and firmly, yet with empathy, particularly in contact with parents who are under pressure because of their child's needs
*Willingness and ability to undertake frequent visits to schools and other sites for review and other meetings
*Knowledge of SEN and disability issues
