Job description: Senior Care Assistant (1 x Day / 1 x Night) - Flitwick, Bedford
One of the largest Housing Associations in the South of England are recruiting for two permanent Senior Healthcare Assistants to join their team in Flitwick, Bedford. One will cover day shifts and one will cover night shifts.

The Role
The focus of the role is provide high quality, flexible, person-centred care, treating all individuals with respect and dignity at all times. You will support our residents and team to achieve the outcomes in their personalised care plan, improving their quality of life and building confidence and skills to enable independent living, whilst playing an active role in their communities. You will also be leading our care assistants, with distributing what needs doing and sorting shift rotas. You will also deal with the distribution of medication and oversee this is done correctly. This will include the following skills and responsibilities:
*Providing direct person centred care to all residents, promoting their individuality and dignity at all times.
*Assisting residents with social activities by interacting with them, encouraging them to continue with or take up new hobbies and activities such as those organised by the Activities Coordinator or assistants
*To lead, support and mentor the team of care assistants on shift and support the nurse on duty to organise and supervise their work
*Performing, reporting and recording, following training, clinical observations of residents' temperature, pulse, breathing, height and weight. Obtaining urine, stool and sputum samples, as requested by the GP or RGN in charge. Performing simple urinalysis following training

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following skills and experience:
*Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care
*Good level of IT skills and literacy
*Be highly organised and able to work to conflicting and challenging deadlines
*Able to demonstrate specific knowledge of clinical care
*Care home or caring experience
*Willing to undertake further training

The Contract
These are permanent roles, offering a salary of £18,158.40.
*The Day working hours are 37.5 hours over 7 days, two week rolling rota, between 7.45am and 8.00pm.
*The Night role is over 36 hours per week, working alternate weekends on a 2 week rolling rota)
