Job description: The shift technician role will require the chosen candidates to carry out the following :

Electrical
Interprets and follows the IEE Wiring Regulations for Electrical Installations (BS7671) regulations at all times.
Uses all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the execution of works.
Undertakes inspection and commissioning tests for the installation and issues the appropriate completion certificates.
Activate power changeover plant and be able to safely isolate from generators or local network in the event of a malfunction.
To be conversant with, and work on inverter drives and soft start systems.
Be able to work safely on standby electrical systems such as 400V generators and UPS systems.
To be able to work on Nurse Call and Door Access systems throughout the Trust site.

Mechanical
To be conversant with domestic hot water, mains cold water, plumbing, high temperature hot water heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and steam heating systems.
To be fully conversant with all types of pumps, circulation systems, belt drives, pulleys and direct drive systems.
To work on, diagnose faults and repair medical oil free and reciprocating control air compressors, and vacuum plant (with relevant training and approval).
To be conversant with chemical dosing systems and water treatment plants and be aware of the latest Legionellae guidance.
To carry out specialist repairs on larger items of plant such as high pressure industrial steam boilers and chiller plant, autoclaves, air conditioning, microprocessor controlled equipment, also general domestic repairs.
Carry out electrical work to a limited extent, where it is associated with mechanical installations (with relevant training and approval).
