Job description: SHYPP Young People's Locality Worker, Hereford
A Herefordshire based Housing Association are recruiting for a SHYPP Young People's Locality Worker based in Hereford. This role is to ensure the provision high quality housing within a foyer and move-on accommodation for young people who are vulnerable and in housing need. To key work with a number of young people either living at the Foyer or in other accommodation across the locality to reduce homelessness
The Role
Your key duties within the role will include the following:
-To deliver day to day housing management tasks within a range of supported accommodation in line with SHYPP policies and procedures.
-To work with the SHYPP duty crisis team, locality coordinator and other external agencies to ensure assessment and interviewing of potential/ new residents is undertaken to a high level. Ensuring minimum void turnaround times and minimal waiting lists.
-To enable young people to move on to establish and maintain an independent and thriving lifestyle.
-To work with people referred to the service to assess their tenancy management needs and draw up agreed plans of housing related support tailored to their individual needs and circumstances
-To work with our young people to enable them to gain confidence and develop the skills required to manage their homes as independently as possible.
-To engage positively with young people who are socially excluded and have difficulty in accessing services.
-To take practical steps to help young people to maintain their engagement with SHYPP support, training and any other external agencies.
-To support young people to comply with statutory orders and the requirements of criminal justice agencies, including the courts.
-To identify and liaise with any additional source of support which may be required and make referrals or assist the young person with accessing other relevant agencies for support, for example, drugs / alcohol agencies, Housing Options and Support Service, Housing Officers, GPs, the Benefits Agency.
-To contact other agencies where there is concern for the young person's well being;
-To ensure that young people are safeguarded and report to the safeguarding board any concerns in line with SHYPP policy.
-Record and monitor all cases onto ECINS
-Support vulnerable tenants
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you must have experience of working with young people aged 16 to 25. Coupled with a knowledge of housing legislation and housing issues for young people, with an understanding of licence/tenancy agreements.

The Contract
This is a 2 month temporary contract starting ASAP on a Part Time Basis (18.5 hours per week)
