Job description: Social Work Assistant Adult Division Chelmsford Essex

This is the perfect role for a Social Work Assistant or a Newly Qualified Social Worker looking to gain experience with a Local Authority.

Working as the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Coordinator you will be responsible for the requests for assessments that come into the office to ensure they are appropriate and will make decisions based on the level of urgency and priority using the Council Prioritisation process.
This will include taking due account of the principles of personalisation, the six key principles underpinning adult safeguarding work, and relevant legal frameworks.
Role specific accountabilities

*To undertake specific DOLS related work such as maintaining links with section 12 doctors; organising the annual re-approval processes of section 12 doctors and best interest assessors and review systems, particularly in relation to the MCA and Dols, and secure email processes to ensure that we are compliant with legislation. To complete relevant case recording processes.
*To work with managing authorities and partner agencies and ensure open and transparent communication in relation to the ECC prioritisation tool to ensure referrals are responded to appropriately and urgent DoLS applications are prioritised.
In order to apply you will need to meet the following.
Knowledge, skills and experience

*3 years relevant experience in a Social Care setting.
*Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards legislation and process
*Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with colleagues as well as other agencies and organisations
*Good general standard of education, including English to GCSE A*-C standard, or equivalent
