Job description: Strategic Markets Manager - Local Authority & other Public-Sector
In the last year, Wakefield-based YPO, the UK's largest publicly owned buying organisation, has delivered a further £7.9 million in dividends to local authorities across the country despite unprecedented Public-Sector challenges in recent years.

As a result of using centralised contracts to deliver essential services such as energy solutions, HR, highway and food services in 2016, YPO's member and associate member authorities all receive a share of profits which are paid back to them to invest in local services and demonstrate a long-standing commitment by YPO to drive economic growth at a local level. An Exciting opportunity has arisen at YPO for a Strategic Markets Manager, focusing on Local Authority and Other Public-Sector markets, such as Emergency Services to join the team to help us continue to make a positive contribution to local economy.
Reporting into the Head of Procurement Services, the Strategic Market's Manager is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategy to meet its customers and YPO's strategic objectives.

This role will have great scope and opportunity to really make a difference for the communities in which we serve, managing over £300m of customer spend, working for a company voted in the Times 100 Best Not for Profit Organisations to Work for in 2015 and 2016, and one who operates in an extremely astute commercial manner.
The post holder will be an experienced senior manager in Procurement, well versed in the strategic development of procurement solutions and will be MCIPS or have a relevant other professional qualification or experience.

The Role Purpose:
As a senior manager within the business the post holder will work very closely with the Head of Procurement Services and the Strategic Markets Manager for Health, Social Care & Education to determine and implement the appropriate strategy for the optimal development of Procurement Solutions to those markets and customers. They will lead, co-ordinate and provide effective management of a team of circa 10-15 Category Managers, Category Buyers and Further Competition Co-ordinators.
The post will focus on continuous development and growth through proactive management of key stakeholder groups including a varied customer and supplier base.
