Job description: Support Assistant - East London (E1)
One of the largest Housing Associations in London are recruiting for an experienced Support Officer to join our team at the assessment service for young people in Tower Hamlets on a permanent basis

The Scheme
This is a 12 bed scheme with additional 2 crash pads, covered 24 hours, for young people aged 16 - 21 years.

The Role
The focus of the role is to provide housing related support to young people at risk of homelessness, this will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Ensure the service is running at a high standard and meeting all the service specification outlined by commissioners.
*Raise customer awareness of local services and facilities and support engagement with these services. This includes One Housing's Employment & Training Team and Volunteer & Partnership Team.
*To carry out support planning, risk assessments and reviews for lower need customers.
*To refer more complex cases to a Support Officer.
*Develop a wide range of activities, including group sessions, social events, workshops, and group activities, designed to provide young people with additional life skills.
*Managing a caseload and building trusting relationships
*Carry out assessments in collaboration with Support Officers

The Candidate
The candidates must have experience of working with young people in a support capacity. This includes experience and knowledge of assessment and support of young people. The service will be for vulnerable young people with a variety of needs, including complex needs such as substance misuse, mental health, and forensic backgrounds. The successful candidates will carry out assessments in collaboration with Support Officers. You will also require the following experience and knowledge:
*Safeguarding legislation including ability to recognize safeguarding issues
*A good understanding of steps required before move on to independent living
*Some understanding of the benefits/ welfare system

The Package
This is a full time, permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week. The role is shift based, working between the hours of 8:00 and 23:00, as well as sleep in shifts.
