Job description: Service Care Solutions are recruiting for Mental Health Support Workers to work across the Birmingham area. The shifts will be 3 days a week, 2 long days and 1 short day adding up to 35 hours a week, working in a private Residential care home.

Shifts can range from Monday to Sunday
Long day- 0800-2200
Short Day-0800-1500 or 1500-2200

Job Role

* Respecting and ensuring their patients privacy and dignity at all times.
* To provide a domiciliary care and domestic support service, including personal care to individuals in their own homes in response to requests received and detailed in their support/care plans. This could include:
o Assisting/supporting with personal care to include bathing, showering, toileting, dressing and care of catheters
o Assisting/supporting with and prompting the taking of prescribed medications
o Assisting/supporting with the preparation of light meals and assisting with feeding when necessary
o Cleaning, ironing, shopping and cooking
o Updating clients notes, risk assessments and support/care plans.
o Carrying out client reviews for other team member's clients.

* To carry out all duties in line with policies and procedures to the current Care Standards' (CQC) requirements for delivering domiciliary care, ensuring that all work is undertaken with due consideration and respect for the dignity and privacy of the clients and their carers to whom the service is being delivered.
* To undertake a variety of tasks concerned with maintaining the individual's independence, physical and mental health; and wellbeing in a safe and hygienic environment.
* To liaise with the Registered Manager on a regular basis regarding the care and support provided, any issues or changes identified and any concerns that need addressing immediately for the continued well-being and safety of the client and their carers when appropriate.

Skills and Experience
* Knowledge and understanding of the needs of older people and people with disabilities
* Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements
* Qualified to NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
* Previous experience of providing personal care would be an advantage although training is provided

* Reliable, responsible and flexible
* Ability to work as part of a team but also unsupervised at times
* Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear legible records
