Job description: A local authority based around Leicestershire is looking for a Building Surveying Team Leader/Managing Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate will have experience managing a team of surveyors in a similar role.

The main purpose of the role is to lead a team of surveyors carrying out repairs/maintenance works to client's residential properties.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows;

Lead, manage and motivate a team of building surveyors carrying out surveys to diagnose repairs, identify defects and remedies on issues
Specifying remedies and work to be carried out, estimating costs, preparing tender documents and commissioning work
Lead on the management of capital and revenue projects and contractors carrying out works to properties
Direct management of the more complex projects
Ensure there are effective arrangements in place for monitoring contractors' preliminary costs and variations and that there are effective approval mechanisms in place for the approval of variations. Ensure that there are effective arrangements in place for carrying out pre and post inspections, work in progress and handover inspections accepting at handover only properties that meet the specification and quality standards
Ensure that valuations and invoices received comply with the specifications and that these are paid only for work completed to the required quality standard
Identify when Planning, Building Control and other statutory consents are required, ensure that they are applied for in a timely manner
Ensure that there are effective arrangements in place for overseeing all work, monitoring progress, ensuring that work is completed on time, to specification, to budget and that all necessary planning, building control and other statutory permissions are identified and appropriately and timely obtained.

The successful candidate will need a full relevant professional qualification, a UK driving licence and experience in a similar managerial position.
