Temporary Accommodation Officer - Thurrock, Essex

Job description: We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Accommodation Officer based in Thurrock, Essex. This is a full position working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm.

The main purpose of the position is to provide the efficient and effective management of our clients temporary accommodation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the length of stay in temporary accommodation is kept to a minimum and the use of bed and breakfast accommodation is also kept to a minimum. You will also ensure that vulnerable households placed in temporary accommodation received the necessary support to ensure that they can live independently.

Some of your key duties will include -

* To directly manage a number of temporary units for the accommodation of persons who are homeless.
* To ensure a good standard of accommodation is maintained and the accommodation is equipped and furnished to a good standard.
* To carry out routine checks including home visits for the purposes of checking occupancy and correct usage of accommodation.
* To ensure that any charges due for occupation of the property is collected
* To ensure that the accommodation is used by the occupant in accordance with any licence agreement and take the appropriate action including legal proceedings where the conditions of the licence are not maintained and or circumstances change.
* Liaise with local area office staff where our clients tenants are placed in such accommodation to ensure that there housing issue is resolved as soon as possible.
* Liaise with other statutory and voluntary agencies and Housing Associations to ensure that appropriate additional support is provided and signpost households in temporary accommodation to other sources of support that may assist them.
* Liaise with the management of the clients homeless hostel on a weekly basis ensuring that any information about occupancy and or change of circumstance is recorded for the benefit of other housing needs team members
