Job description: A Local Authority based in North London is looking for a Traffic/Road Safety Engineer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant Highways/Roads/Traffic degree qualification, strong experience within highways/street works teams and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of several safety-led TfL LIP schemes and a wide variety traffic and road safety schemes.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Carry out investigations, feasibility studies and preliminary designs through to consultation for a wide range and scale of traffic management schemes.
Deliver minor amendments to existing traffic restrictions and road safety interventions.
Delivering traffic schemes within a local authority or consultancy environment
Ability to plan, manage and deliver traffic scheme programmes, policies and initiatives.
Confidently present findings of investigations, surveys and designs to the Senior Management and the Portfolio Holder.
Responsible for design, consultation, project management, managing external consultants and supervision of contractors on your projects.
Worked in a design and project development team environment and be familiar with design standards, guidance, and regulations such as the TSRGD 2016, Traffic Signs Manual and the Manual for Streets (1 &2).

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

A relevant qualification in Engineering or a transport related qualification is advantageous.
Ideally the candidate would be working towards their professional review with a recognised institution.
The post holder will also be required to undertake site surveys, preparation of estimates, issuing works requisitions, liaising with and supervising contractors and monitoring costs.
A valid UK driving licence would be advantageous.
Previous project management experience will be essential, alongside a working knowledge of highways, traffic and parking legislation, as well as experience of using AutoCAD and associated software packages such as Key Accidents, AutoTrack, Key Signs, and Key Lines to ensure the successful planning, design and delivery of traffic schemes.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £24 - £28 p/hr Umbrella ltd (approx. £600 - £690 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
