Job description: Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Temporary long term Trust Secretary to work in Wigan within the NHS. This is a full time role, Trust Secretary is accountable both to the Chief Executive and the Chair. The post holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the highest levels of corporate governance and will play a key role in the development of the Council of Governors.

Pay is £38-£40 Ltd an hour (must use an Umbrella company, this is a external payroll which we will help set up)

Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will:
*Act as expert advisor to the Chief Executive, Chair and Board of Directors on all issues relating to corporate governance, ensuring the Trust's corporate affairs are undertaken to the highest standards of probity and according to statutory and legislative requirements and the regulatory framework
*As an attendee at the Senior Management Team contribute to the formulation of strategy, policy and the delivery of corporate and statutory objectives
Support the Chief Executive in fulfilling their Accountable Officer responsibility with respect to good governance and to maintain the highest standards of prudence, propriety and regularity;

Corporate Governance
*Provide independent expert advice and support to the Chief Executive, Chair and Board of Directors on all matters relating to statutory and legislative compliance and interpretation
*Support the Chair and Chief Executive in ensuring compliance with best practice in corporate governance
*Working in support of and with the Chair, ensure that the Board of Directors and its Committees are properly constituted, operated and supported, according to Standing Orders and the regulatory framework

Trust Secretariat:
Provide a Secretariat function, which will provide adequate administrative resource to facilitate the effective working of the Board of Directors and its Committees. The Secretariat will support the Chair and Chief Executive in the effective conduct of Board of Directors and Board of Directors Committee business, in particular, through:

*Planning, preparation and timely submission of agendas, reports, supporting papers and minutes
*Preparing agenda and minutes for Board of Directors and its formal Committees and ensuring the preservation of proper records of business
*Organisation, agenda planning, identification and assignment of actions and tasks; determine forward plans for the business of the Board of Directors and its formal Committees in consultation with the Chair, Chief Executive and appropriate Executive Directors

Skills and Knowledge:
*Educated to Masters degree or equivalent, or be a fully qualified Company Secretary (or working towards it - ICSA)
*Have first class interpersonal skills and a proven ability to effectively work within a complex, multi skilled, service based organisation
*Able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge of or corporate governance, QGAF etc
*Experience in the NHS at a senior level
*A clear understanding of regulatory frameworks within the NHS
*Able to evidence problem solving, negotiation and analytical skills
*Project management skills
*Proven communication skills - written and verbal
*Presentation skills
