Job description: A Local Authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for a Voids Surveyor/Officer to join their team. This is a full time, Permanent role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant surveying qualification, extensive experience with Void residential properties and ideally experience in a local authority setting.

The position is within the Empty Homes Team, whose purpose is to deliver a high quality, upper quartile performance in relation to managing and re-letting the Council's void properties.
The purpose of the role will be to manage the inspection, maintenance and repair of empty homes in order to ensure that properties are available for letting within target times, and that void rent loss is minimised. The successful candidate will contribute to changes made to existing policies and procedures and embed this in the day to day delivery of an efficient Empty Homes service.

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Ensure that all Empty Homes and mutual exchange works are of a high standard, are completed on time and within the budgeted value set.
Provide an effective, responsive and customer-led voids service, and be responsible for monitoring and signing off on the quality of our services and properties.
Has overall and specific responsibility for the diagnosis of all repair and project works, quality control, payment and contract management, specification, ordering, liaison and procurement including rechargeable works to maximise income to the Council.
Has responsibility to project manage the void property, from keys in to keys out.
Leads on key processes and time scales for the completion of surveys, makes decisions for improvements to ensure the processes followed are always efficient, appropriate and cost effective.
The post holder must be flexible, approachable and keen to work well with tenants, contractors, suppliers and colleagues.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills/attributes;

Have a recognised building trade qualification (HNC / CIOB / RICS) or equivalent and relevant supervisory experience within the Building trade.
Demonstrable experience of working in a building maintenance environment and working with Schedule of Rates.
With practical knowledge of health and safety and the skills to manage builders and contractors, the post holder should also be commercially aware with excellent project management skills.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering an initial salary of £34,728 - £37,890 per annum dependant on experience and qualifications along with a very competitive benefits package.
