Job description: My Client, a local authority, is currently requiring a part time Web Editor for an initial 4 month contract in London.

Ideal candidates should have previous Web Editorial experience as you will need to ensure that web content meets written, branding, accessibility and style guidelines.

My client will require you to undertake checks on current web content available to the public and work alongside the Web Content Manager to make sure that the content is of a high standard. You will also be expected to provide support to staff in the creation, design, updating and maintenance of on-line information and functionality, meeting their information and service delivery needs.

You will also carry out regular site maintenance including link-checking, accessibility checks, site reliability, archiving and audience usage analysis.

Essential Knowledge:

* Knowledge of what makes good web content in terms of writing style, page layout and information architecture.
* Knowledge of publishing law including libel and copyright.
* Knowledge of the Data Protection Act and how it can impact web publishing.

Skills:

* Skilled with editing and writing customer focused service information accurately and in plain English.
* Ability to work independently in making editorial decisions that comply with web publishing guidelines and corporate strategies.
* Very experienced copy writer and editor for publicly published media
Very experienced in using web technology software in a work environment; including Photoshop and Content Management and Publishing Systems.
* Experienced with working with XHTML in a work environment
