Job description: A Youth Offending Service in East Yorkshire are looking for a qualified Youth Justice Officer to join their team on a full-time basis for 3months, with the possibility of extension.

As a Youth Justice Officer you will undertake a range of assessments of young people who have committed crimes, in order to safeguard and promote their welfare. You will be expected to identify the needs and risks the young person poses to themselves and/or others, as well as writing Pre-Sentence reports for the Courts. You will also be required to plan, supervise and enforce community sentences in an effort to reduce the risk of re-offending. As a Youth Justice Officer you may also be expected to attend case reviews or other multi-agency meetings.

To be successful in your application, you must have a Degree in Social Work and be HCPC registered, or be a qualified Probation Officer. In addition to this, applicants must have experience of working with young people in a criminal justice setting, or those with challenging behaviours.

This position is full time (37 hours per week) and includes a 7-day a week rota. As such, flexibility from candidates is required for this post, as you may be required to work some evenings and weekends.
