Job description: The Youth Offending Service in the Southend Borough Council (Essex) are looking for a Youth Offending Officer to join them on a full time basis for 8 months (possibly extended).
The purpose of the role is to assess and work with children and young people who have been identified as offenders or at risk of offending ensuring age appropriate interventions, working to effect change in both offending behaviour and self-perception.

You will perform tasks as an experienced YOT Officer, managing, supervising and enforcing complex community and custodial sentences, attending court when required, developing and delivering age appropriate programmes, undertaking risk assessments, making sure management plans, enforcement records and decisions are recorded to a high standard. You will take a lead in specific areas of specialist service development and support the management team to promote performance improvement and team moral.

Note: You will be expected to work out of hours and any other duties when required.
To be successful in your application you must be qualified to degree level or have substantial relevant experience of working with children and young people.
You will need experience of working in a youth justice setting doing complex casework, caseload management, risk management and interagency work.
