Design Engineer – Wakefield
£50,000 per annum
37.5 hours per week

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Protection and Control Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation based in Wakefield.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on major high-voltage power transmission and generation projects, supporting design and delivery across the UK’s electrical infrastructure. You’ll be joining an established team within a growing technical department focused on quality, innovation, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Deliver HV light current secondary design work in line with all project, safety, and environmental standards.
• Produce and review Designer Risk Assessments and ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
• Represent the design department at project meetings including start-up, progress, and closeout reviews.
• Maintain key internal and external interfaces to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Support the design and implementation of protection and control systems for substation and transmission projects.

Requirements

• Proven experience in protection and control design for HV networks.
• Experience on 132/275/400kV projects (essential).
• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
• Competent use of CAD
• Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder skills.
• BESC and Persons certification desirable but not essential.
