Family Help Supervisor Lead. Inspire. Make a Lasting Difference.

Are you an experienced leader in children’s services who is passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people, and families? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where safeguarding, early intervention, and high-quality support are at the heart of everything you do?

We are seeking a dedicated Family Help Supervisor to join our Early Help Service and play a key role in leading frontline practitioners, driving excellence in practice, and supporting vulnerable children and families to achieve positive and sustainable change.

The Role As a Family Help Supervisor, you will support the Team Manager in delivering a high-performing service that provides effective early intervention and family support. You will oversee and supervise a team of Family Help Workers, Team Around the Family Practitioners, and Early Years Practitioners, ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, risk management, and evidence-based practice.

You will provide reflective supervision, mentor and develop staff, manage complex cases, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to reduce risk and improve outcomes for children, young people, and families.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner looking to take the next step in leadership or an established supervisor seeking a rewarding challenge within a progressive and supportive service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Team Manager in the operational delivery of Family Help services.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and case oversight to practitioners.
  • Lead on safeguarding, risk management, and complex decision-making.
  • Ensure effective delivery of Child in Need, Child Protection, Team Around the Family, Youth Justice, and Early Help plans.
  • Promote high-quality, evidence-based interventions and family support programmes.
  • Monitor performance, quality standards, and compliance through robust quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong multi-agency partnerships across the family help system.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
  • Lead service improvement initiatives and contribute to organisational transformation and innovation.
  • Manage workloads effectively to ensure timely and impactful support for children and families.
About You We are looking for a confident and compassionate leader who can inspire others while maintaining a relentless focus on achieving the best outcomes for children and families.

You will have:

  • A relevant professional qualification such as Social Work, Youth Work, Education, Health, Youth Justice, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience within children's services, family support, early help, safeguarding, or youth justice settings.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory, management, or senior practitioner role.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, policy, and best practice relating to children, young people, and families.
  • Experience managing complex safeguarding and risk-related cases.
  • Excellent skills in supervision, coaching, and developing practitioners.
  • Experience analysing performance data and driving service improvement.
  • Outstanding communication and partnership-working skills.
  • A passion for early intervention and supporting families to create lasting change.
Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to join a service committed to:

  • Delivering high-quality support to children, young people, and families.
  • Investing in staff development and progression.
  • Promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Creating a culture built on collaboration, inclusion, and respect.
  • Making a genuine difference within local communities.
If you are ready to lead from the front, develop talented practitioners, and help shape the future of family support services, we would love to hear from you.
