General Maintenance Operative (Roofer)

Salary: £35,125 per annum
Location: North Somerset
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled General Maintenance Operative (Roofer) to join our team in North Somerset. This is a vital role providing high-quality repairs and maintenance across our properties, ensuring safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out all works in line with trade standards, relevant health & safety legislation, and Group policies.
• Work in both occupied and unoccupied properties, liaising with tenants professionally.
• Undertake a wide range of maintenance tasks depending on demand.
• Take responsibility for the allocated vehicle, including maintaining ‘imprest’ stock, plant, and tools.
• Maintain clear communication with planners/supervisors regarding work issues.
• Manage materials and van stock effectively.
• Ensure all job-related costs are updated promptly and accurately.
• Schedule and attend appointments, meeting quality and customer satisfaction targets.
• Work independently or as part of a team as required.
• Participate in the out-of-hours emergency repairs rota and support other technicians when needed.

Key Skills & Knowledge

• Qualified tradesperson in at least one core trade (ideally roofing).
• Good standard of education.
• Relevant City & Guilds or NVQ qualification.
• Previous experience and knowledge of health & safety legislation.
• Strong professional experience carrying out similar maintenance work, with a bias toward a core trade.
• Valid driving licence.

• Experience working at height.
• Experience in social housing or within other housing organisations.
