Medical Secretary – Contract (3 Months)

If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you to join a dedicated primary care team as a Medical Secretary.

About the Role:

As a Medical Secretary, your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to GPs and healthcare professionals at a busy GP practice in Redditch. This pivotal role requires dedication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. The role is a 3-month contract, offering 24 hours weekly, paying £17 per hour via Umbrella Company.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate audio and copy typing of clinical correspondence, referrals, reports, minutes, and general documentation.
  • Process patient referrals promptly and accurately in line with practice procedures.
  • Prepare and manage medical and insurance reports.
  • Administer patient access requests, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Monitor, distribute, and action Safety Alerts as required.
  • Collate and submit vaccine counts.
  • Maintain and update clinical systems, including patient records and Team Clarity systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients using AccuRx and other systems.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls professionally.
  • Support general office administration, including processing mail and maintaining patient data.
  • Support practice compliance with GDPR, Data Protection, CQC standards, and NHS guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth operations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or in a healthcare administrative role.
  • Excellent typing, audio transcription, and word processing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Proficient in the use of clinical systems and IT.
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality handling sensitive information.
  • (Desirable) Experience within NHS or General Practice, knowledge of medical terminology, and understanding of relevant compliance standards.
