 Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking a capable and commercially confident Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across the East Midlands and Yorkshire. Projects span Education, Commercial Office, Residential Apartments and Public Sector developments, with values ranging from £500k to £50m (typically £10m–£15m).

You’ll be responsible for the commercial management of 1–2 live projects at any one time, ensuring financial control, risk management and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

The role is primarily office-based from their Nottingham hub, with regular site visits to allocated projects. Hybrid working is available.

Responsibilities
  • Full commercial management of assigned projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
  • Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Subcontract administration, including valuations and payments
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations
  • Variation management and negotiation
  • Cost forecasting and cash flow management
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Preparation of monthly cost/value reports
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and site teams
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant contract conditions (JCT / NEC)
Requirements
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
  • Minimum 1 year post-graduate experience with a main contractor
  • Experience commercially managing projects with limited supervision
  • Strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong financial and analytical ability
  • Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
  • Full UK driving licence
