Recovery Worker – Band 5 (NHS) Location: High Wycombe
Contract: Temporary – 12 weeks (Immediate start)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (09:00 – 17:00, flexible)
Pay Rate: £21.50 per hour (umbrella)

Role Overview Service Care Solutions are recruiting for Recovery Workers to join the NHS team at ORB Wycombe, supporting individuals accessing treatment for alcohol and substance dependency, primarily opiate dependency.

Ideal candidates will have experience within a structured drug and alcohol treatment system, working with those prescribed OST (Opioid Substitution Therapy) and other interventions. You will deliver PSI interventions, apply harm reduction principles, and manage a caseload of approximately 45 clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide harm reduction advice and support, focusing on safer drug use, safer sex, and prevention of HIV, Hepatitis A, B, and C, and other blood-borne infections.
  • Maintain a full caseload as the key worker, ensuring structured care and progress.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop care packages with multi-disciplinary teams, review care plans, and manage onward referrals.
  • Assist nurse prescribers during prescribing clinics.
  • Deliver structured psycho-social interventions, including CBT-based brief solution-focused therapy and motivational enhancement techniques.
  • Create and facilitate group work interventions.
  • Provide a needle exchange service.
  • Demonstrate commitment to service user involvement and safeguarding.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals to address mental health and safeguarding needs.
  • Support service users in progressing through recovery and moving away from maintenance treatment where appropriate.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience in drug and alcohol treatment services.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction principles and OST.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload effectively.
  • Skilled in delivering psycho-social interventions and group work.
