Solicitor

Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of the Scottish Government for a Solicitor to join the SGLD team, supporting the policy response to the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to work at the heart of government legal work, helping to shape and guide the response to a high-profile national inquiry.

Role Overview: As part of the SGLD Inquiry team, you will work closely with Scottish Government policy clients to:

• Provide timely and robust legal advice on all aspects of the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry.
• Analyse inquiry documentation and identify key legal issues for policy development.
• Instruct and support counsel teams representing the SG at Inquiry hearings.
• Attend evidential hearings to extract critical information and advise accordingly.
• Contribute to the Scottish Government’s strategy in both the Scottish and UK Covid-19 Inquiries.
• Attend UK Inquiry hearings remotely as required.

Requirements: 

• Qualified Solicitor (must hold a current practising certificate from the Law Society of Scotland)
• Civil litigation experience (public sector/government litigation preferred)
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong team-working ethos with proactive client support
• Inquiry experience desirable but not essential

💷 Pay: From £57,701 per annum (negotiable) LTD Day Rate: £302.66 - PAYE (inc HOL)£257.02
