Service Care Soltutions, are seeking highly motivated and skilled Solicitors (minimum 5 years’ PQE) to join the ELjamel Inquiry’s Legal Team.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Solicitor to the Inquiry, Counsel, and other members of the legal and evidence management teams. You will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and analysing evidence, preparing for hearings, and advising on matters of law and procedure.
This is a unique opportunity to use your legal expertise in support of an important public inquiry that will have a lasting impact on healthcare governance and patient safety in Scotland.

Main Responsibilities
- Identify, recover, and assess evidence, engaging directly with external stakeholders where required.
- Assist Counsel in reviewing and analysing recovered material, assessing relevance to the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference, and contributing to summaries and thematic reports.
- Oversee the production of applicant statements and expert reports within the Independent Clinical Review.
- Use evidence to identify further lines of inquiry, potential witnesses, and contribute to the Inquiry’s list of issues.
- Lead on the redaction and disclosure of evidence in line with Inquiry policies and protocols.
- Qualified Solicitor entitled to practise in Scotland.
- Minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Strong understanding of Scots public law, civil procedure, and evidence.
- Background in litigation or large project work.
- Demonstrable ability to manage complex casework and handle sensitive material.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience of medical negligence, clinical litigation, or healthcare law.
- Previous involvement in a public inquiry or regulatory investigation.
Contract Details
- Number of posts: 2 Solicitors ASAP start
- Contract duration: Maximum 23 months
- Grade: C1 (Solicitor)
- Salary: £62,111 – £77,439 (depending on experience, PC and levy wont be covered by the inquiry)
