About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Database Specialist to support the RMS Replacement Programme within South Yorkshire Police, transitioning from Connect to NicheRMS. The successful candidate will provide expert technical support and leadership in database management, data migration, and system integration within the Force’s IT infrastructure.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice around Force data management, database technologies, and storage solutions.
- Lead on future database requirements and develop proposals to meet operational and strategic needs.
- Manage and execute data migration, mapping, and transformation activities between legacy and new RMS platforms.
- Monitor and control requests for new work, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timely delivery.
- Maintain and promote high standards of customer service within the IT function.
- Ensure compliance with incident, problem, and change management procedures, while seeking opportunities to streamline service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and third-party vendors.
- Complete IT security remediation actions to support the Governance and Information Risk Return (GIRR) for national IT systems.
- Identify, assess, and document risks and issues in collaboration with the Solutions Delivery management team.
- Provide guidance on business continuity arrangements within the Solution Delivery area.
- Deputise for the line manager as required.
- Contribute to effective budget management, ensuring oversight of overtime and related expenses.
- Participate in the IT on-call rota when required.
- Advocate a proactive, “can-do” culture across the department.
Essential skills and experience:
- Proven experience in SQL Server (2016–2022), including scripting, backups, and restores.
- Proven experience in Oracle (11g–19c), including scripting, backups, and restores.
- Strong understanding of data migration, data mapping, and transformation methodologies.
- Previous experience supporting RMS platforms, particularly Connect and NicheRMS.
- Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
