On Saturday 23rd March 2019, around 15 members of our company will be donning their walking boots and waterproofs and setting off on a 24.5 mile trek across the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.

Our trek starts in the village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale with Pen-y-Ghent being the first peak to conquer. The route then takes us to Whernside, which, at 2,415ft, is the highest mountain on the walk. Finally, we'll come back round to Ingleborough then back to the starting point. As part of the sponsorship challenge, we will be expected to complete the route within 12 hours - this means we will be setting off from Preston at around 5am on the Saturday morning! I am hoping that we'll then stumble (and I mean, literally stumble - probably - by this point!) across a nice country pub to rehydrate!

We will be raising money for one of our chosen charities, Derian House, to support children with life limiting illnesses and their families. Derian House is renowned for being at the forefront of children’s palliative and respite care. Families who have a child with a life shortening condition can choose from a range of care and support services to meet their needs, which includes end of life care, either at home, or in Derian House. The emphasis is on giving support to children and their families, and providing them with choices which deliver an approach to care as individual as they are.

Fortunately for us, we are having a bake sale (themed 'Fit Friday' for some of us, and 'Fat Friday' for others!) in the office on Friday 22nd March so our rucksacks will hopefully be filled with left over treats from that to keep us going! The funds raised from this sale will also be donated to Derian House.

Paul Bradley, who is Chair of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) here at Service Care Solutions, said, 'We are really pleased to be able to do this walk for such a worthy cause. It will be a bit of a challenge for some of us (myself included!) but with a bit of team spirit and the end goal of helping these poorly children and their families, I'm sure we'll reach the target of completing the trek in under 12 hours.'

If you would like to sponsor us for this amazing charity, please check out our Just Giving Page. We would be extremely grateful for any donations that fuel us to the finish line!
