SCS Superheroes!

Case Studies
This year everything has been slightly different and the way we are carrying out our CSR (charity) activities is no exception. One of the charities that we help year round is Cash for Kids.

Cash for Kids' mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. They work with grass-roots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go. Collectively, Cash for Kids raised over £20.9 million in 2019, supporting more than 1 million children.

At Christmas, their operations go into overdrive as their 'Mission Christmas' activity gets underway; they collect toys and gifts for all ages - from newborns through to late teens. They then pack these up into age-appropriate bundles and deliver them to people in need. Last year,  Service Care Solutions donated around 100 gifts to the cause but with many of our staff working remotely this year, we had to think outside the box to try to generate funds for the charity.

We came up with a 12 day Christmas Challenge where our employees could volunteer to do something they'd find difficult for 12 days in a row. This could be anything from a certain amount of steps to a run everyday, a distance cycled etc. Once they make this commitment, they can then ask friends and family to sponsor them, with all funds going to Cash for Kids.

We are pleased to announce that the following people have pledged to do a challenge in order to raise funds for this worthy cause:

- Sarah Farrimond and Jessica Livesey have set themselves the challenge of covering 100 miles within 12 days (through walking and / or running)
- Alex Glover and Adam Stone have pledged to run 250km between them
- Emma Leck will do 50 burpees a day for 12 days
- Tom Millar will do 30 pull ups a day for 12 days
- John Wilson will do 12 hours of indoor cycling over 12 days

As well as this, we are, of course, accepting donations of gifts for the charity and some of our staff are helping the Cash For Kids team to organise and pack the presents by volunteering their time. We will be posting updates on our 'Superheroes' Challenges but if you would like to donate, please click here.
