Service Care Construction - Weekly Update

Another week of Lockdown has passed so I just wanted to share my thoughts on what is happening across the industry.

We are starting to get more information through now in regards to furlough workers and how this will work in practice. We are fortunate to work with some fantastic clients who are really looking after their workers and are willing to pay them in full during the lockdown.

Unfortunately, we know that not every business is in that position but at Service Care, we are doing all we can to ensure every candidate on assignment with us is receiving the best advice possible and we are assisting them in looking at every avenue for them to secure wages during this period. We have still been able to place candidates into work by supporting Hospitals. Housing associations and Local Authorities with maintenance workers for their emergency call out departments.

The private sector, in particular, has been hit extremely hard. I do not think it is helped by confusing messages about who should and should not be working. What is lacking is a clear policy for all employers to use; the current rules leave too much ambiguity.

I can only hope that those businesses are able to come through this period, especially some of the fantastic clients we are fortunate enough to have been working with over the last few years. We have been in contact with them all and although they are suffering right now, what has struck me more than anything is the determination they all have to turn this around as soon as they are able to. Whatever role we can play in assisting in these recoveries for both old and new clients is one we are ready for, as and when the time comes.
