I have recently read an interesting article on Community Care. After speaking with many Social Workers on a day to day basis, it always comes across that this is a very rewarding yet emotionally demanding career.

The moral of the story is to look after yourself! Looking after the vulnerable requires us to prioritise our own well-being too.
How can we do this?

Sleep - It is recommended to have 8 hours of sleep every night. Adequate sleep is a key part of a healthy lifestyle, and can benefit your heart, weight, mind, and more.

Eat Well - When it comes to a healthy diet, balance is the key to getting it right. This means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, and consuming the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

Exercise - Exercise not only improves your physical health, it also helps to reduce anxiety and lowers your risk of other mental health conditions such as depression.

“Maintaining our physical and emotional well-being is something we have to work at. It takes time to embed new behaviours and attitudes and we should not expect instant results. However, if we care about our work and want to be well enough to carry on doing it for a long time it is something worth investing in.

I hope you enjoyed reading the article.
