The Underdog Story

What's your favourite underdog story...?

I reckon you would have lots of things pop into your head but for me I'm thinking... David GogginsMichael Oher (from The Blind Side movie) and Tyson Fury.

We all love an underdog story, let's face it. We love to encourage and get behind the one that's less likely to win, because we love the grit, determination and the drive to win they have. We love it because we would love that to be us...

The truth is, we can be the underdog who succeeds. However, one thing I do believe is that most people suppress their grit, drive and determination, because it's easier not to try, than to accept you might get it wrong a few times first. We too often rely upon someone else to be the underdog and tell ourselves... "I couldn't have done that, that person is more 'motivated' than me / more intelligent than me / has more opportunity than me." We talk ourselves down from achieving incredible things. It's something we hear a lot when it comes to career goals. People tell themselves BS excuses as to why they can't do what someone else did.

The truth is we are cut from the same cloth and you too can achieve incredible things with your career, and generally with your life goals. You can be your own underdog but first you have to believe. Or... You could blame everything else instead and take no responsibility.

It starts with you, and to achieve something you must believe you can do it.

If you don't believe, you won't achieve.
