1:1 SEN Support Teaching Assistant – Long-Term Position

We are currently recruiting for a 1:1 SEN Support Teaching Assistant to work in a long-term role within a school setting. This position involves supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs on a consistent, daily basis, helping them to access learning and develop both academically and socially.

This is a long-term opportunity within one school, providing stability and the chance to build a strong, supportive relationship with the pupil and staff team. It is well suited to someone who is patient, reliable, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.

Role responsibilities include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN throughout the school day
• Supporting the delivery of lessons and adapting tasks to meet the pupil’s individual needs
• Assisting with the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans
• Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs where applicable
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH)
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A flexible and proactive attitude
• An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
