Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in London for an Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will provide high-quality financial support and advice across a range of council services, strengthening financial governance and contributing to effective decision-making within a complex public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage budgets, forecasts, monitoring and year-end accounts for allocated services.
• Provide financial advice to managers and senior stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Maintain financial systems, controls and processes in line with best practice and CIPFA guidance.
• Prepare financial analysis, grant claims, statutory returns and management reports.

Candidate Criteria

• Qualified Accounting Technician or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience in local government finance, or a complex public/private sector environment
• Strong Excel and systems such as Power BI, analytical and financial management skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving abilities.
