You will play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of the department by managing large volumes of post, working with key policing systems, and supporting the processing of approximately 42,000 fixed penalties each year.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed work, has strong organisational skills, and is comfortable working to deadlines in a busy office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open, record and process incoming post using the National Fixed Penalty System (NFPS).

  • Scan documents into the Electronic Document Management System.

  • Produce daily printing, including Notices of Intended Prosecution and court-related documentation.

  • Manage the Central Ticket Office email inbox and respond to enquiries.

  • Operate electronic mailing systems for outgoing correspondence.

  • Prepare payments for transfer to the Fixed Penalty Office.

  • Produce letters through NFPS and Microsoft Word.

  • Process vehicle owner transfers, hire agreements, PNC checks and cancellation of foreign visitor notices.

  • Handle driver admissions, including checking licences and photographic evidence.

  • Deal with telephone and email enquiries from members of the public, officers, Magistrates’ Courts and fixed penalty teams.

  • Support new staff by sharing knowledge of systems and processes.

  • Maintain accurate records in line with Data Protection and Force policies.

  • Monitor stationery stock and reorder as required.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience dealing with members of the public.

  • Strong organisation and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Ability to handle potentially distressed or irate callers professionally and tactfully.

  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach.

  • Experience of automated mailing systems.

  • Experience dealing with conflict situations.

  • PNC training (not essential—training can be provided).
