Adult Education Tutor (ESOL)

6-Month Initial Contract
30 Hours per Week
£21.03 Umbrella / £16.89 PAYE

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Adult Education Tutor to join the Adult Learning team at West Sussex County Council. 

About the Role

As an Adult Education Tutor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning programmes that support residents across the county—particularly those from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds.
Working closely with a Programme Officer and in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will design and deliver a curriculum that supports the council’s core learning outcomes:

• Learning for Work
• Learning for Life
• Learning to Support Families
• Learning for Health and Wellbeing
• Learning for Enrichment and Personal Interest

Your work will help learners build skills, confidence, and qualifications to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver ESOL programmes to a high standard
• Support learners to achieve accredited qualifications
• Develop engaging and inclusive lesson plans
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records
• Work collaboratively with partners to enhance provision
• Ensure compliance with ESFA and Ofsted requirements

About You

We are looking for a tutor who has:
Essential:

• Proven experience delivering ESOL programmes
• Strong track record of delivering accredited learning
• Relevant teaching qualification and subject specialism
• Understanding of ESFA funding requirements and Ofsted standards
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to engage and support diverse and vulnerable learners

Additional:

• Ability to travel independently to various venues across the county
• Passion for adult education and community development
