The Children’s Advice & Support Officer will work within Staffordshire Children’s Advice & Support (SCAS), helping families receive the right help at the right time. This role is about early intervention, ensuring children and families are supported safely within their communities, reducing the need for statutory services.
You will work under the guidance of the Team Manager, providing advice, guidance, and support using a restorative approach, contributing to a high-quality service for children and families.

The Children’s Advice & Support Officer will work within Staffordshire Children’s Advice & Support (SCAS), helping families receive the right help at the right time. This role is about early intervention, ensuring children and families are supported safely within their communities, reducing the need for statutory services.
You will work under the guidance of the Team Manager, providing advice, guidance, and support using a restorative approach, contributing to a high-quality service for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional telephone referral and signposting services as a first point of contact.
- Assess enquiries to determine appropriate responses and referrals.
- Maintain accurate records using electronic systems.
- Support the Team Manager in day-to-day operational tasks and service delivery.
- Ensure all referrals and contacts are responded to within 24 hours.
- Contribute to team development and improvement of service delivery.
- Work flexibly in accordance with the SCAS rota.
- GCSE in English or equivalent.
- Relevant qualification in Customer Care or Business Administration.
- Typing/Word Processing qualification (50wpm equivalent).
- Experience in office procedures, systems, and customer service.
- Strong IT skills and ability to use computer-based information systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- Flexible, able to adapt to changing work demands.
- Full UK driving licence (casual car user).
