Salary: £41,511 - £45,718 per annum

Service Care Solutions are proud to be recruiting on behalf of Oldham Council for a Permanent Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join their dedicated Adults' Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and warranted AMHP looking to progress their career within a supportive local authority that is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred mental health services. You'll be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, making a genuine difference to the lives of adults experiencing mental health crises.

The Role As an Approved Mental Health Professional, you will carry out statutory duties under the Mental Health Act, undertaking assessments and making informed decisions to ensure individuals receive the most appropriate care in the least restrictive way possible.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and exercising statutory AMHP responsibilities.
• Coordinating complex assessments with health professionals, police, ambulance services and partner agencies.
• Making evidence-based decisions regarding detention, guardianship and community alternatives.
• Promoting recovery-focused, person-centred practice while safeguarding vulnerable adults.
• Preparing clear, accurate reports and maintaining high-quality case records.
• Participating in the AMHP duty rota and contributing to service development.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current warranted Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status – essential.
• Social Work England registration.
• Experience working within Adult Mental Health Services.
• Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.
• Excellent assessment, communication and decision-making skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
