A client within the Public Sector based in Leicestershire is currently recruiting for an Asset Surveyor to join their Strategic Property Services Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, permanent position, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a property/asset management or surveying environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the Principal Asset Surveyor in optimising, rationalising, and proactively managing the Council’s property portfolio to achieve best value, maximise income, reduce costs, and support wider corporate objectives.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Proactively managing a diverse portfolio, including the IiLP commercial assets and operational property, ensuring they are fit for purpose and deliver best value.
• Supporting lease negotiations, renewals, rent reviews, and undertaking property inspections, condition surveys, and dilapidation schedules.
• Monitoring expenditure and preparing accounts for service charges, including issuing instructions and authorising payment of accounts.
• Appointing and monitoring external agents and solicitors in line with Council procedures.
• Providing strategic asset management advice, guidance, and reports to the Council, elected Members, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Representing Strategic Property Services at internal and external working groups.
• Ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and health & safety requirements.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Degree or equivalent in Land Management (or related discipline).
• Full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience in Local Government or public sector asset management.
• Significant post-qualification experience valuing a broad range of property types for accounting and strategic purposes.
• Knowledge of leasehold and freehold management, landlord & tenant law, and contract/agent management.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £400 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £300 per day PAYE).
