A client within the Public Sector based in Manchester is currently recruiting for a Highways Site Technician to join their Highways Planned Maintenance Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highways engineering or maintenance environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To support the design, programming and delivery of Manchester City Council’s planned maintenance of carriageways and footways, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Assessing sites for inclusion in future planned maintenance programmes.
• Daily supervision of contractors on the Highway Planned Maintenance Programme to ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
• Investigating and resolving on-site issues and public complaints arising from works.
• Maintaining detailed site records and reporting progress and issues to Engineers.
• Inspecting completed works, identifying and recording remedial requirements.
• Ensuring that works are delivered in line with budget, specification, and council standards.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
• A HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent relevant qualification).
• Extensive knowledge and experience of highway maintenance techniques, materials, and site operations.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role
• Strong analytical, organisational, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple sites and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, able to liaise effectively with contractors, colleagues, and the public.
• Proven ICT skills for data recording, analysis, and report presentation.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving abilities, with confidence in decision-making and escalation when necessary.
• A proactive and creative approach to identifying and developing solutions.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £22 per hour PAYE).
