Assistant Solicitor

Service care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a high-profile Public Inquiry (Sheku Bayoh Inquiry)  for an experienced Solicitor to join their Inquiry Legal Team as an Assistant Solicitor. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a significant piece of public work, contributing to legal proceedings at a national level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Chair, Counsel, and Senior Solicitors with the analysis of large volumes of documentation.
• Review evidence for relevance to the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference.
• Assist in preparing legal submissions and advice for the Chair.
• Provide support in all court-related matters, including Court of Session work.
• Contribute to the archiving of Inquiry materials and ensure compliance with FOI and Data Protection legislation.
• Maintain and update spreadsheets and trackers used to manage key legal documents and evidence.

Requirements:

• Valid Scottish Practising Certificate.
• Previous experience working in a Public Inquiry or in support of a core participant (highly desirable).
• Strong experience with Court of Session procedures.
• Proven ability to handle and analyse large volumes of complex evidence.
• Solid understanding of data protection legislation in a legal context.
• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal. 

Additional info:

• Salary:Starting Salary from £60,010 (negotiable) LTD day rate: £314.90 and a PAYE (inc) £267.31 
• Contract 6-12 months
