Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in East Staffordshire for a Team Leader to join the Benefits team on a temporary basis. The postholder will manage and coordinate the Housing Benefit Team and wider Revenues, Benefits and Customer Contact service, to enable effective delivery of service aims and agreed targets, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, good practice, corporate and service objectives

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the Housing Benefits team to ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused services aligned to performance targets.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on service performance, implementing improvements and corrective actions to meet statutory and corporate objectives.
- Oversee complex benefits cases, system performance, and data integrity, ensuring accurate processing, reporting, and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Support wider RBCC operations, including deputising for senior leadership, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating across service areas.
- Proven experience managing or supervising within a high-volume, customer-focused environment, ideally within Revenues and Benefits.
- Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax legislation, along with experience of relevant systems and performance management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate teams and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Analytical and solution-focused mindset, with the ability to interpret data, resolve complex issues, and drive service improvements.
