A client within the Public Sector based in Manchester is currently recruiting for a Principal Building Control Inspector to join their Planning, Licensing & Building Control Service as soon as possible.The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority building control environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to lead on the delivery of complex and specialist building control projects across the city, ensuring that all developments comply with Building Regulations and associated public safety legislation.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Examining building plans and inspecting works under building control legislation.
• Administering and enforcing public safety legislation relating to dangerous, ruinous, or dilapidated buildings, demolition, and sports ground safety.
• Leading on major building projects, ensuring efficient and compliant plan checking and site inspections.
• Preparing clear, accurate reports and notices for legal purposes.
• Assisting in the management and mentoring of a team of surveyors/engineers, including developing less experienced staff.
• Participating in the out-of-hours emergency call-out procedure for dangerous structures.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
• Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a related discipline.
• Professional membership of a recognised building control body such as MCABE, MCIOB, MRICS, CEng, or MIStructE.
• Registration under the Government’s Building Control Competency Scheme – Class 2.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong technical knowledge of Building Regulations and public safety legislation.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in managing projects and leading technical teams within a local authority setting.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £33 per hour PAYE).
