A client within the Public Sector based in Lancashire is currently recruiting for a Building Services Design Engineer (HVAC) to join their Building Design Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or public sector environment.

The Role
The key purpose of the role is to support the delivery of mechanical building services projects across the authority, providing high-quality HVAC design, specification, and project management services in line with current legislation, standards, and council policies.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Designing and specifying mechanical building services (HVAC), including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, hot and cold water systems, gas, BMS, and legionella mitigation
  • Leading or supporting the project management and delivery of mechanical building services projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Managing and coordinating external consultants, monitoring performance, quality, and KPIs
  • Providing specialist technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborating proactively with multidisciplinary teams across the council and wider asset management services
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical/building services engineering discipline
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIBSE or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in mechanical building services design and delivery
The below skills and experience would be beneficial for the role:
  • Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services regulations, standards, and best practice
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Proven ability to manage projects and external consultants effectively
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £22 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approximately £17 per hour PAYE).
