Business Support Officer – Children’s Social Care and Safeguarding Services

Are you looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families? We are seeking a Business Support Officer to join our Children’s Social Care and Safeguarding Services team. This is a key role providing business support activities to help ensure our service meets statutory obligations and delivers timely, effective support to children, young people, families, and carers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for service users, staff, and partner organisations, providing advice and guidance.

  • Progressing tasks and projects delegated by your Manager to contribute to service effectiveness.

  • Collating, preparing, and presenting performance data and supporting service audits.

  • Undertaking administrative duties including drafting documents, minute-taking, preparing presentations, handling enquiries, and organising meetings.

  • Supporting service initiatives through investigation, research, and information collation.

What we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience in children’s social care or a similar environment.

  • Proven experience coordinating activities and working with others to achieve outcomes.

  • Strong computing skills, particularly with MS Office, databases, and spreadsheets.

  • Knowledge of children’s safeguarding issues and ability to apply this knowledge effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject.

  • Flexible, resilient, and able to work under pressure.

Desirable:

  • Experience leading projects and managing budgets.

  • ECDL or other IT qualification.
