About the Role As a Family Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in supporting vulnerable children and families through early help assessments, direct family support, and multi-agency work. You will work under the direction of the Assistant Team Manager, undertaking assessments, delivering interventions, and helping families build positive routines, relationships, and long-term stability.
This is an essential car user role, and you must hold a driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants where required).
Roles are available across various locations.

Key Responsibilities
- Complete Early Help Assessments and develop effective support plans with families and partner agencies.
- Lead and chair Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings.
- Support qualified Social Workers with statutory assessments, including joint and independent home visits.
- Provide practical advice, parenting support, and behaviour management strategies to families.
- Undertake direct 1-1 and group work with children, young people, and parents.
- Write clear, concise reports, observations, and contributions to child protection or care planning processes.
- Facilitate and supervise family time/contact sessions and complete observational reports.
- Contribute to duty functions and escalate safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate electronic case records.
- Support the learning of Social Work students.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of work.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting children, young people, or families in a social care, voluntary, or educational setting.
- Understanding of vulnerabilities and the needs of children, including safeguarding.
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
- Confident in using IT systems such as Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Collaborative, empathetic, resilient, and committed to delivering excellent support.
- Degree in Social Policy, Psychology, or related field.
- Experience delivering group work or supporting children with emotional, social, or behavioural difficulties.
- Experience using Liquid Logic.
- Ability to contribute to training delivery.
