Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Family Court Adviser to join a dedicated team supporting children and families through family court proceedings. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker to play a key role in ensuring children's welfare and safety remain at the centre of decision-making.

Role Summary The Family Court Adviser role provides advanced social work support to children, families, and courts within family proceedings. The successful candidate will assess risk, analyse complex cases, advise courts on child protection and welfare concerns, and work directly with children and families to achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting safeguarding assessments and risk analysis.
  • Identifying child welfare and protection concerns.
  • Providing clear, evidence-based recommendations to the court.
  • Working directly with children and families to understand their views and experiences.
  • Managing complex caseloads and sensitive family situations.
  • Liaising with legal professionals, local authorities, and partner agencies.
  • Ensuring the child's voice remains central to all court proceedings.
Work to First Hearing (WTFH) / Information and Assessment Service (IAS) This team focuses on the initial stages of private law proceedings before the first hearing. Family Court Advisers are responsible for:

  • Completing safeguarding checks.
  • Assessing risk factors and welfare concerns.
  • Gathering and analysing information from relevant agencies.
  • Providing early recommendations to support safe and informed court decisions.
Child Focused Court (CFC) Model The Child Focused Court Model ensures proceedings remain centred on the needs, experiences, and wishes of the child. Family Court Advisers within this model will:

  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and the judiciary.
  • Promote a child-centred approach throughout proceedings.
  • Help reduce delays and improve outcomes for children.
  • Ensure the child's voice is effectively represented and considered.
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying experience working with children and families.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience managing complex and high-conflict cases.
  • Good IT and case management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
