Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting for an experienced Childcare Legal Officer to join a busy Local Authority legal team based in Greater Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to support Children’s Services with a varied and rewarding caseload, providing high-quality legal advice and representation in public law childcare proceedings. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility between remote working and office/court attendance as required.
Job Title: Childcare Legal Officer
Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid Working)
Pay Rate: £40–£45 per hour (Umbrella) – PAYE (Inc.Hol) - £35.71 - £40.10
Working Pattern: Full-time, Hybrid (office attendance required as per service needs)

Key Responsibilities as an Child Care Legal Officer:
- Manage a caseload of Childcare matters
- Provide legal advice to Children’s Social Care teams, senior management, and elected members.
- Draft legal documentation including applications, care plans, statements, and court bundles.
- Conduct advocacy in the Family Court where appropriate.
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX, or experienced Legal Officer with substantial Child Care experience.
- Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently.
- Excellent drafting and communication skills.
- Previous experience working within a Local Authority legal team is highly desirable.
