Doncaster Council’s residential service supports children in care through high-quality children’s homes, supported accommodation and services for care leavers. The majority of their in-house homes are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted and they want to build on this by creating a skilled and passionate workforce that delivers therapeutic, relationship-based care.
We have a competitive salary on offer of at least £47,154 and the working pattern will be 8am-4:00pm Monday to Friday.
As Children’s Homes Manager, you will:

The majority of their in-house homes are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted and they want to build on this by creating a skilled and passionate workforce that delivers therapeutic, relationship-based care.

As Children’s Homes Manager, you will:
- Register with Ofsted and strive to achieve Good or Outstanding inspection outcomes
- Lead and inspire a team of residential care professionals
- Ensure full compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, the Children Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023
- Drive therapeutic practice that supports emotional, psychological and social development
- Lead on safeguarding, quality assurance and continuous improvement
- Manage significant budgets and oversee financial performance
- Embed strong performance management and robust audit processes
- Champion children’s voice in service development
- Foster a positive, inclusive and empowering culture
- Work collaboratively with partners, families and stakeholders
- Within the last 5 years, at least 2 years’ experience in a role relevant to residential childcare
- At least 1 year supervising and managing staff in a care setting
- Extensive experience working with Children in Care
- A strong record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted gradings (or be a Deputy Manager ready to step up)
- A thorough understanding of Ofsted regulations and inspection frameworks
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Child Care
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic approaches in residential settings
- Experience managing budgets and driving service improvement
- Exceptional leadership, communication and organisational skills
