Client: City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full time (37 hours) – Waking nights.
Salary: £16.08 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role
As a Residential Practitioner, you will assist in delivering a comprehensive residential service for children and young people, supporting the home’s Statement of Purpose and contributing to achieving an Ofsted rating of Good or better.

About the Role
As a Residential Practitioner, you will assist in delivering a comprehensive residential service for children and young people, supporting the home’s Statement of Purpose and contributing to achieving an Ofsted rating of Good or better.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key worker, implementing care plans, behaviour management plans, risk assessments, and health plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each child.
- Support the physical and emotional needs of children, respecting their cultural, religious, and dietary requirements.
- Mentor and support Trainee Residential Practitioners.
- Administer medication in line with departmental policy.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Complete all mandatory training and keep it current.
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with disabilities, challenging behaviour, or who have experienced trauma.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and integrated working practices.
- Familiarity with care planning, statutory reviews, and multi-agency collaboration.
- Effective communication and engagement with children, families, and professionals.
- Understanding of child development and transitions.
- Ability to assess risk, safeguard children, and respond appropriately.
- Strong organisational, observational, and record-keeping skills.
- Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Core competencies including fairness, professionalism, collaboration, and community engagement.
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Workforce or equivalent (e.g., NVQ 3, BA in Social Work, Degree in Childhood Studies).
- Enhanced DBS check and Warner Process clearance.
- Ability to work unsocial hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically able to participate in activities and attend appointments across the district.
